Mikes hobbies and passions outside of dance include daily Yoga practice, CrossFit, reading fantasy novels and spending warm sunny days on the beach.
Summer 2019 finally saw his dream of becoming a yoga teacher come true and has now established his own brand of 'Maya Yoga Wales UK' where he hosts mutliple classes, Yoga Retreats and Celtic Cacao Cermonies.
As of summer 2023, Mike has now begun his new venture as a Massage Therapist
Michael, often called Mike, began his dance training at 16 having previously trained as a gymnast. Studying at Gorseinon College, he joined both the County Youth Dance Company and National Youth Dance Wales where he worked alongside professional Choreographer Henri Oguike for several seasons. Mike undertook his professional training at Roehampton University, graduating in 2006 with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Dance Studies. After several small freelance contracts, Mikes first company role was with Cardiff based company, Earthfall. Here he remained a company dancer from 2008-2010 as one of their lead tutors until the companies final days, which came to an end in 2015/2016. Mikes Joined Abertillery based repertory company, FFIN DANCE in 2010, touring nationally and internationally in several pieces by Artistic Director, Sue Lewis and Associate Choreographer, internationally acclaimed Gary Lambert. Mike left the company in 2014.
Mike later joined Exim Dance Company, based within the heart of Plymouth in 2012, touring in a variety of works by Olivia Lockwood and Adam Benjamin, co-founder of Candoco Dance Company. One of the companies highlight was touring to Moscow, Russia in February 2018
Mike currently dances for Pontypridd based Ransack Dance Company, led by Sarah Rogers. Joining the company in 2017, Mike is currently in their latest production 'Us & Them'
Amongst his company roles, Mike has worked as a freelance dancer for a variety of artists including Anna Melander, Chisato Minamimura, Issac Blake, Kylie Ann-Smith, Dark Island Dance, Joon Dance, QWERIN
